Pretzel Kids yoga with Heather Martin

Pretzel Kids® incorporates traditional yoga postures with fun, imaginative games and relaxation techniques. By using games, breathwork, and visualizations, children naturally relax and have fun. Games are non-competitive and each child is encouraged to go at his or her own pace. By learning to appreciate what they can accomplish, children can also learn to feel comfortable with their bodies and their unique capabilities.

Musical Guests

These wonderful local musicians are generously donating their time and talents to this year’s Farm Fest. Thanks to all of them for their compassion and support!

Brief Awakening

Brief Awakening sounds like a tree of soulful songbirds with a message of equality swaying in an indie breeze but anchored in roots of folk and rock. Formed in September of 2008, brief awakening danced into the Boston local music scene playing numerous clubs and venues such as The Middle East, P.A’s Lounge, T.T the Bears and many more. The music of brief Awakening is blissfully melodic, featuring complex song writing, dual-lead female vocals rich with harmony, and a grounding rhythmic force. Lyrical subjects range from the poetically personal to the fight for equality and justice for all people. The music of Brief Awakening is diverse and evolving as they continue to weave new elements into their tapestry of sound. The band’s mission is to create authentic connections and meaningful shared experiences through the power of their music.

Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards are a folk duo from Massachusetts who sing songs which resonate with the lover of Americana and old country music, commanding familiar traditional melodies and poignant, introspective lyrics, and backing them with delicate arrangements on ukulele, clarinet, guitar and banjo. They began in the basements, coffee shops and art spaces of New England, and have since tested the stages of more traditional folk music venues, colleges, and bar rooms from Boston to Austin, Denver to Nashville, Asheville to Portland, and back ’round again. Hundreds of concerts have been given and thousands of records have been sold, all on their own steam and without the support of major industry assistance. Mandeville & Richards are currently signed to Massachusetts indie label Nobody’s Favorite Records and are presently promoting Mark’s new studio album, Mark Mandeville & Old Constitution, which has been heralded to be “one of the most anticipated indie releases of the year (The Glass, Chris McGovern).”

Fran Reagan

Fran Reagan, born and raised in Worcester, Mass, has released three solo discs as well as been a featured performer on several others.
Fran and his acoustic guitar are veterans of northeast coffee houses, but (did you know?) he was first a drummer, and Fran’s varied and emotionally rich rhythms have been the secret muscular ingredient behind some rocking New England bands (including Little Levity).
Fran is also an accomplished cyclist. He has competed multiple times in the annual Worcester George Street Challenge (with an average of an 18 degree vertical grade).

Volunteer

Volunteering at Farm Fest is a great way to support the work of MFS. This event is the biggest fundraiser of the year and it takes many volunteers working together to make it a success! There are a variety of volunteer roles including organizing, PR, hanging flyers, set up, break down and directing attendees. Email Laurie at info@maplefarmsanctuary.org to volunteer and thank you!

Become a Sponsor or Exhibitor

Businesses and organizations are invited to participate in the 2nd annual Farm Fest. This event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Maple Farm Sanctuary and a great way to spread the word about your company or organization. There are many ways to participate starting at just $25 (or free for non-profits!) which include product donation, goodie bags, exhibiting and program ads. Last year’s event drew between 700 and 1,000 attendees, many of whom are interested in earth and animal friendly products and services. You can see photos of Farm Fest 2011 here or on our Facebook page.

Maple Farm Sanctuary is a local volunteer run non-profit focused on rescuing animals and educating the public about the need for compassion for all living beings. Join us in celebrating this mission!

Please email Laurie at info@maplefarmsanctuary.org for an application form and more info.
